Muslim Association of Northwest (MANW) MANW is a Washington State registered non-profit organization. MANW was first registered with the state in 1995. The majority of its activities are conducted from Masjid Umar Al-Farooq, which was established in 1994. The organization's aims are both religious and educational. The main goal of the organization is to establish Islam as a way of life in the community. This is accomplished by:
Masjid Umar Al-Farooq currently serves the needs of over 200 Muslim families in the Mountlake Terrace area (north of Seattle). These Muslim Americans comprise a wide range of ethnic backgrounds including Indian, Pakistani, Afghani, African and Middle Eastern. The Masjid has a full-time Imam who is a qualified Islamic scholar. Congregational Salaah is held five times daily, as well as the Juma' Salaah on Fridays. Other activities include daily Qur'an classes for children and adults, weekly halaqas for learning and teaching, a weekend Islamic school, as well as Dawah work on a daily basis. Special activities include Iftar gatherings during Ramadan, with daily Taraweeh salat and educational lectures.
The Masjid also features a Youth group which organizes various activities for the young Muslims of the community. These include regular sporting events, camping and hiking trips during the summer, and educational activities year round.
